Dogs seem to gather as we climbed the volcano.

The hike was misty until we reached the top. This lava flow is 5 years old.

Graffiti along the base of the lava flow.

The white specks at center left are people climbing the volcano.

The higher we climbed the steeper it got.

Many groups make their way to the top of Pacaya.

Tim stepping a little close to the edge.

Our guide resting at the top, he leads two hikes a day.

Vegetation easily grows on the older volcanic flows.

Fresh lava flow.

View of older vegetated volcanic cone, with a younger deposit in the foreground.

Freshly deposited minerals (calcite and some sulfur, I think).
