A kickstand may seem like something you see on kids' bikes but you might change your mind when you start touring. There are so many times a kickstand becomes necessary. I find that often when I'm stealth camping, especially in places like beaches and deserts, there are no trees on which to lean my bike. Crowded cities in the developing world rarely have bike racks.
