Best Touring Bicycle Kickstands for Heavy Loaded Panniers Tour Bikes

A kickstand may seem like something you see on kids' bikes but you might change your mind when you start touring.  There are so many times a kickstand becomes necessary.  I find that often when I'm stealth camping, especially in places like beaches and deserts, there are no trees on which to lean my bike.  Crowded cities in the developing world rarely have bike racks. Leaning your bike against a wall or light pole isn't always an option, as most available space is already in use. Kickstands for touring bicycles are different from the one you had when you were a kid in one important way: it needs to be tough to hold up that heavy bike.

Pletscher Two-leg Kickstand 320mm

By far my favorite kickstand for loaded bicycle touring

Click to Purchase Pletscher Kickstands SEARCH

Pletscher Two-Leg kickstand. This is the one most preferred by bicycle tourist because it can hold the most weight.  Both legs fold up to one side.

Greenfield Kickstand (all sizes)

Much Cheaper but not for heavy loaded touring bicycles

Click to Purchase Greenfield Kickstand (all sizes)

The Greenfield Kickstand keeps a bike standing on its own 2 wheels—no more looking for a parking meter or tree to lean it against!

* 285mm length works best for 26 in. wheeled bikes, but can be cut to fit smaller bikes
* Metal alloy is lightweight and strong for confident support

Pletscher Zoom ESGE Adjustable Kickstand

Great quality but for lighter bikes
